Is it possible to get your matric at home? Yes, it is! There are different pathways to a matric qualification (school exit) in South Africa available for Homeschoolers. 1. NSC (National Senior Certificate) of the Department of Basic Education (CAPS) - South African High School Diploma OR National Senior Certificate. - For University bound students (need to pass with endorsement). - You need to comply with USAf's requirements for exemption. - NOTE: The IEB exam is also used with some CAPS aligned online service providers and mostly private schools - NOTE: Adult Matric - Amended Senior Certificate (ASC) for adult learners (21 years or older) 2. NC(V): National Certificate (Vocational) - South African Vocational/ Occupational Matric - NQF4 (without exemption) equivalent, recognized by SAQA. - Need to do a NQF5 (Higher Certificate) as a bridging course for university acceptance. 3. American High School Diploma (Standard & Honors Pathways) - Equivalent Foreign Secondary Qualification. - For University bound students (need to pass the Honors option with a 3.5 GPA). - Need to apply for Foreign Conditional Exemption and meet USAf's requirements for exemption. - The Honors American High School Diploma is equivalent to Cambridge A levels. 4. GED Test - American School Leaving Certificate. - South African NQF4 equivalent (without exemption), recognized by SAQA. - Need to do a NQF5 (Higher Certificate) as a bridging course for university acceptance. 5. Cambridge Certificate - UK School Leaving Certificate. - For University bound students. - Need to apply for Foreign Conditional Exemption and meet USAf's requirements for exemption.
